Answer Key with Detailed Solution:
1).Girls appeared = (7210/5) × 2 + (4800/16) × 7 + (5670/9) × 4 + (6400/16) × 5 + (7200/18) × 7 + (7080/12) × 5
= 2884 + 2100 + 2520 + 2000 + 2800 + 2950
= 15254
Girls Passed = 1268 + 1146 + 1432 + 975 + 1224 + 1565 = 7610
Required % = (7610/15254) × 100
= 49.88
= 50%
Answer is: d)
2).Boys appeared = {(7210/5) × 3 + (4800/16) × 9 + (5670/9) × 5 + (6400/16) × 11 + (7200/18) × 11 + (7080/12) × 7
= 4326 + 2700 + 3150 + 4400 + 4400 + 4130
= 23106
Average = 23106/6
= 3851
Girls appeared = (7210/5) × 2 + (4800/16) × 7 +(5670/9) × 4+(6400/16) × 5+(7200/18) × 7 + (7080/12) × 5
= 2884 + 2100 + 2520 + 2000 + 2800 + 2950
= 15254
Average = 15254/6
= 2542.33
Difference = 3851 – 2542.33
= 1308.67
≈ 1309
Answer is: a)
3).Appeared girls = (6400/16) × 5 = 2000
Number of boys passed from Chennai = 68/100 × 6400 – 975
= 4352 – 975
= 3377
Required % = 3377/2000 × 100
= 182.45%
Answer is: b)
4).Total number of boys appeared from all cities together = 23106
Total number of boys passed from all cities together
= 3058 + 2022 + 2537 + 3377 + 2880 + 3037= 16911
Total number of boys failed from all cities = Number of boys appeared from all cities – number of boys passed from all cities
= 23106 – 16911
= 6195
Answer is: e)
5).Total number of students passed from City Hyderabad
= 4800 × 66/100 = 3168
Total number of girls passed from City Hyderabad = 1146
Total numbers of boys passed from City Hyderabad = 3168 – 1146 = 2022
Total number of students passed from City Kolkata
= 5670 × 70/100 = 3969
Total number of girls passed from City Hyderabad = 1432
Total numbers of boys passed from City Hyderabad = 3969 – 1432 = 2537
Total number of Boys passed from City Hyderabad and Kolkata = 2537 + 2022
= 4559
Total number of Girls passed from City Hyderabad and Kolkata = 1146 + 1432
= 2578
Required % = (4559 – 2578)/2578 × 100
= (1981 × 100)/2578
= 76.84%
Answer is: c)

Answers :

1.1

Selling price = 32,000+4000=36,000
% of Profit = 4000/36000 = 12.5%

2.3

HTC mobile Selling Price = 33,000
HTC Mobile % Of Profit  = 10%
means        33,000 -------  110%
                     ?     -------   100% (CP)
Cost Price of HTC = 30,000

Micromax cost price = 3/5 *30,000 = 18,000
 Selling price = 22,000
profit = 4,000
% of profit = (4000/18,000 )*100 = 22 2/9%

3.5

Profit on Samsung mobile =3,500
from that profit on LG mobile = 3500+500=4000
Selling Price of LG mobile = 32,000
% of profit on LG = (4000/28,000)*100 = 14 2/7%

4.3

Cost Price = 53,000
% of profit = 14%

53,000 ------------ 100%
 ?        -----------   114%

Selling price = 60,420
profit = 60,420-53,000=7420

5.5

Cost Price = 35,000
Selling Price = 35,000+3500=38500

Ratio = 35000 : 38500 = 10:11

 6-B, 7-  d) none of these.
Solution :
Distance covered in downstream = 4 km
Time taken in downstream = 3 hours.
Rate of downstream = distance / time = a = 4km / 3 hours = 4/3 km/hr.
Distance covered in upstream = 2 km
Time taken in upstream = 2 hours.
Rate of upstream = distance / time = b = 2 km / 2 hours = 1 km/hr.
Speed in still water = (a + b)/2 = (1/2)(4/3 + 1) km/hr = (1/2)(4 + 3)/3 = 7/6 km/hr.
Time Taken to cover 8 km in still water = distance / speed = 8 x 6/7 = 48 / 7 = 7 hours (approximately).
Hence the answer is option d.

8-  4  397.5
Explanation :
N:675 =>Boys = 675*3/5 = 405
P:650 =>Boys = 650*3/5 = 390
Avg = 405+390/2 = 397.5
9-  1  121:24
Explanation :
675 => 400:275 => 16:11 = G:B
G:400*12% =48
B:275*88% =242
242:48 = 121: 24

10- 3  341
Explanation :
M =768*25%= 192
O= 460*15% = 69
Q = 320*25% = 80

Total = 341
