. Essential Degrees: Candidates must have both a B.Ed. and a Master’s Degree (e.g., M.A., M.Com) in the relevant subject
. Subject Combinations: For subjects like Commerce, Math, or Science, candidates must have studied at least two related subjects during their Graduation to form a valid combination
. Specific Examples:
For Commerce, a candidate needs a B.Com, a B.Ed. in Commerce, and an M.Com
. For Punjabi or English, a Master's degree in the specific language is required, typically following the study of that language as an elective in Graduation
Required Percentages (Master’s Degree)
According to the new rules, the required percentages in the Master's degree are:
General Category: 55% (previously 50%)
. SC/BC Category: 50% (previously 45%)
. While these are the current standards, the speaker mentions there is a possibility the government might offer relaxations back to the older percentages (50% for General and 45% for SC/BC), so candidates with those marks should also continue preparing
Age Limits (as of January 1, 2026)
The age requirements for applicants are calculated based on the date January 1, 2026: General Category: 18 to 37 years
. SC/BC Category: A 5-year relaxation is provided, making the upper age limit 42 years
Exam Pattern and Syllabus

. Merit-Based Selection: Merit is determined solely by the score obtained in the subject-specific test
